PETALING JAYA: Immigration Department officers arrested 18 people, including 15 foreign women, in a raid at a brothel in Bandar Puteri Puchong.
Eleven officers stormed into the premises which were outfitted with heavy security, including remotely controlled doors, numerous CCTV cameras and hidden doors behind mirrors during the 7pm raid on Thursday.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Indera Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the door between the first and second floors was concealed behind a mirror to confuse law enforcers.
“They also had lookouts outside to warn them in case of trouble and to turn off all lights before the officers entered the premises,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Khairul Dzaimee said the brothel was popular among an international clientele of people from Belgium, Iran, Japan and South Korea.
“Our investigation showed that they used WeChat as the main mode of communication with their customers,” he said.
Along with 15 women from Vietnam and Indonesia, three men – two Myanmar workers and a local who was the brothel supervisor – were also arrested.
Khairul Dzaimee said 11 male customers at the brothel were given notices to have their statements recorded.
