KOTA KINABALU: Registered customers of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) in the state and Labuan will soon be enjoying rebates of up to 2.5% from their pro-rated deposits made to the company.
SESB general manager for corporate communications Chendramata Sinteh said the rebates, amounting to RM7.7mil, will be directly credited to the account holders' accounts by February.
She said the deposits were used to pay off any liability (if any) or overdue bills if customers terminate their contracts with SESB.
"These are all according to the rules and regulations of the Licensee Supply Regulations, 1990," she said in a statement Wednesday (Feb 20).
Chendramata said the deposits are counted based on the customer's two months' average electricity bills, and are revised every six months.
She said additional deposits would be charged if there is an increase in electricity usage for a customer.
"If there is a decrease in the bills in the six-month duration before our revision, then the customer can either claim the excess amount via rebates," she said.
