Ex-auxiliary cop, foreign wife detained over alleged abuse of son


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a former auxiliary policeman and his foreign wife for allegedly abusing their 12-year-old son.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Shahurinain Jais said the couple was arrested at 11.33am on Tuesday (Feb 19) following a police report.

"The suspects are alleged to have abused a child and we detained them at a house here and rescued the victim as well.

"After questioning, they admitted to abusing the child for the last two years," he said, adding that the victim was seeking treatment at a hospital here.

ACP Shahurinain said this when contacted here on Wednesday (Feb 20).

He added that the male suspect was a former auxiliary policeman whose service ended in 2013.

ACP Shahurinain also said police were in the midst of getting a remand order against the suspects from the magistrate's court.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
