Search on in Beluran for seven-year-old boy feared drowned

BELURAN: A search and rescue (SAR) mission has been mounted to find a missing seven-year-old boy who is feared to have drowned at Sungai Kampung Muanad 3 here on Monday (Feb 18).

The boy, identified as Amanual Darius, went missing while playing along the riverbank with his friends at about 4.30pm.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Katizah Rahaban said nine firefighters were despatched to the scene after Amanual's father lodged a report at the station at 4.56pm.

"The station is located some 10km away from the scene.

"The team first carried out a surface water search with the help of people from the village.

"A scuba unit from Sandakan was also deployed to assist in the SAR mission," she explained.

Amanual has still not been found as of press time.
