Terengganu Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar says PAS signed no promise.

PETALING JAYA: PAS did not make any promises and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is unleashing psychological warfare, says Terengganu Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

The PAS elections strategist said that the letter Dr Mahathir is referring to is the one in support of the agenda to strengthen the Malay people, Islam and the people's agenda.

"PAS supports the PM in this agenda and it has nothing to do with the Semenyih by-election.

"This is the same case when we supported the PM when he opposed the ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) last year," said Dr Ahmad Samsuri.

Sinar Harian reported Dr Samsuri comments when he was asked on Sunday (Feb 17) about the PM's announcement that PAS has given its word that the party will not support Umno in the Semenyih by-election.

Dr Samsuri was named as one of the three top PAS leaders other than PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, who had met Dr Mahathir and made the promise.

The three PAS leaders had met the PM a couple of times to discuss Federal Government funding for the East Coast states.

Takiyuddin, however, was seen with Umno leaders in the Barisan Nasional camp during nomination day for the Semenyih by-election on Saturday (Feb 16).
