Shafie Apdal to hold press conference on Monday (Feb 18) over Bersatu entry into Sabah

TAWAU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal will hold a press conference in Kota Kinabalu on Monday (Feb 18) to address Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's announcement that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will be entering Sabah.

The Parti Warisan Sabah president is expected to have the press conference at the state legislative assembly building at 8.30am.

He told reporters here that he will only address the issue in Kota Kinabalu because he did not want the various media agencies - many of which were based in the state's capital - to miss out.

He said this after launching the closing ceremony of a convention at Tawau Sports Complex on Sunday (Feb 17).

On Friday (Feb 15), Prime Minister and Bersatu chairman, Dr Mahathir, announced that the party will spread its wings to Sabah.

He said that Bersatu's presence in Sabah was not aimed at wresting control of the state from Warisan.

Dr Mahathir said they were merely providing an avenue for former Sabah Umno members who do not wish to join Warisan.
