Salahuddin seeking audience with Johor Sultan over mosque speech issue

JOHOR BARU: Parti Amanah Negara deputy president Datuk Salahuddin Ayub (pic) will seek an audience with Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to clear the air over allegations that he made a political speech at a mosque in the state.

The Pulai MP and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister said he wanted to clear his name over the allegation with His Majesty.

According to Salahuddin, he was currently waiting for the green light from the palace on when he would be granted an audience with Sultan Ibrahim.

“I have just read Sultan Ibrahim's Facebook status and, as a Johorean, I am obliged to seek an audience with His Majesty.

“I will explain everything to His Majesty about the incident, so that the truth will finally come out,” he said when met at the Pulai Parliament Chinese New Year Open House at Padang Layang Layang Taman Bukit Indah here on Saturday night (Feb 16).

He added that he would also be holding a press conference after the meeting with Sultan Ibrahim.

Salahuddin also said the 45-second video did not represent the whole content of his speech.

“I have seen the video last night, and as you can see there is nothing in that video that talks about political issues, political parties or even bad-mouthing a person.

“I was only highlighting the value of hablum minan-nas (being kind to one another) and the importance of aiding the needy,” he said.
