SEMENYIH: The Election Commission is hoping for nomination day to go smoothly and peacefully as last minute preparations are made for the Semenyih by-election.
"I implore each political party to keep things civil and keep their supporters under control.
"Tomorrow is only nomination day," said it chairman Azhar Azizan Harun, who visited the nomination centre at Dewan Seri Chempaka at Taman Saujana Impian in Kajang on Friday (Feb 15).
Azhar also said he was satisfied with preparations made at the centre and is confident that safety and security would be upheld with help from the police.
Over 900 commission workers will be on duty throughout the election period which kicks off with nomination day on Feb 16.
Polling day is on March 2.
Separately, the EC said 13 nomination forms have been sold in the run-up to the by-election.
An EC spokesman said Umno bought five forms with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) purchasing three and Parti Sosialis Malaysia, one.
When contacted, independent candidate, Kuan Chee Heng said he bought four forms.
Each form costs RM20.
The Semenyih by-election was called following the death of its assemblyman, Bersatu's Bakhtiar Mohd Nor.
