PETALING JAYA: Datuk Marzuki Yahya (pic) will remain as the secretary-general of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, says party president Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin said that Marzuki's explanation on his “"Cambridge” degree was sufficient, reported Bernama in a tweet on Tuesday (Feb 12).
Marzuki, who is deputy foreign minister, has said he played no part in the misinformation that his degree was from the UK-based University of Cambridge.
He maintained that he had always said he was from Cambridge International University (CIU) in the United States, in which he enrolled in the year 2002.
CIU, which is not accredited, has come under intense scrutiny and increasing suspicion that it is a “diploma mill” that awards degrees with little or no study.
It claims to offer 150 programmes, but only has 12 faculty members and 13 adjunct faculty members listed on its website, which is currently down.
Furthermore, pictures of many of its faculty members seem to be stock images, while one carried the watermark of an online dating site.
The university page has been down since last Friday (Feb 8).
