Umno's Ahmad Razif quits as Terengganu opposition leader

KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): Seberang Takir assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has resigned as the opposition leader of the state legislative assembly, according to the Terengganu Umno liaison committee.
 
Its deputy chairman, Datuk Din Adam, said that Terengganu Umno received a copy of the resignation letter from Ahmad Razif on Feb 4.
 
“Hence, we urge the Terengganu legislative assembly to write to the state Umno for a new name to be proposed as the opposition leader.
 
“Terengganu Umno has yet to meet to decide on the candidate.
 
"This will be decided by the chairman of Terengganu Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said,” he said when contacted by Bernama on Monday (Feb 11).
 
The media in Terengganu received a WhatsApp message on Monday, saying that Ahmad Razif, who is a former mentri besar, had resigned from the post and had informed Terengganu assembly speaker Yahaya Ali in writing on Feb 4.
 
Yahaya, when contacted by Bernama, said he had not received the letter, as he was on leave.
