KOTA KINABALU: A teenager was among six people nabbed for allegedly robbing and hurting a man in Menggatal recently.
The 19-year-old was said to have been with five other men aged between 24 and 39 during the 4.25am incident at Kg Darau Lama, Menggatal near here on Feb 7.
Kota Kinabalu acting police chief Supt George Rakman said in the incident, a 47-year-old man was heard screaming for help before he was allegedly beaten and robbed.
“The victim had fainted after he was beaten, and when he regained consciousness, he found that his bag containing some RM8,000 and handphone were missing,” Supt George said in a statement here Monday (Feb 11).
He said the man had gone to a villager’s house to ask for help, following the incident.
“He was taken to the hospital and was treated for cuts and other wounds,” Supt George said, adding the victim also suffered a 6cm-long tear wound on his head.
He said the first suspect was nabbed at the area at about 10.30pm the same day, while five others were arrested the next morning, also at the same area.
“Police seized a bag, some handphones, a motorcycle believed used during the robbery, some cash, and retrieved a handphone which belongs to the victim,” he said.
Supt George said all suspects were later tested positive for drugs and will be investigated for armed robbery as well as under the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Four out of the six suspects were also found to have previous drug related conviction records.
