Stash of guns, ammo found in vacant Bukit Mertajam house


BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have stumbled upon an arsenal of guns and ammunition when they inspected an abandoned house in Taman Bukit Indah here.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said during the raid at 2.40pm on Sunday (Feb 10), police found a hand grenade, a revolver, a handmade pistol, various ammunition magazines, 349 bullets and two gun silencers.

ACP Nik Ros said police are in the midst of tracking down a 42-year-old suspect with 16 past criminal records to assist investigation into the case classified under Section 8A of the Firearms Act 1960.

On Dec 2 last year, the owner of a double-storey house led police to the unit after it was left vacant for six months.

Police found a luggage bag in the living room found containing 20,470 Ecstasy pills weighing 5.5kg worth RM716,450 and 15kg of caffeine worth RM2,850 along with various equipment used to process chemicals.
