Man held over assault of cabbie

KUALA LUMPUR: A taxi driver was allegedly assaulted near one of the entrances to KL Sentral here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Khalid said they were alerted of the incident on Saturday morning.

“We received a report that the 53-year-old taxi driver was waiting for passengers there when he was approached by the suspect at around 11am.

“The suspect immediately began assaulting him, and members of the public who witnessed the beating managed to break up the fight,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said the victim suffered injuries to his face and legs and received outpatient treatment at a hospital nearby.

“The 33-year-old suspect was arrested to help with investigations.

“The cause of the fight is being investigated from all angles, including personal issues and fighting for passengers,” he said, adding that investigations show that the victim knew the suspect.
