JOHOR BARU: Former Kota Tinggi MP Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid was slapped with two charges of accepting bribes totalling RM230,000 in a Sessions Court here.
He was accused of accepting RM50,000 from printing company Karya Hidayah Sdn Bhd.
According to the charge sheet, the cash deposit was transferred to his personal Maybank account on Sept 6, 2013.
Noor Ehsanuddin, who was formerly a board member of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd, also faced a second charge of accepting a plot of land said to be valued at RM180,000 located at Lot 5876, Mukim Kota Tinggi.
The land was given to him by the same company on March 23, 2014 at the Kota Tinggi land office.
Noor Ehsanuddin, 56, pleaded not guilty.
He was represented by lawyers Datuk T. Thrichelvam and Vincent Lawrence.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor was Khazrin Haffiz Khalil from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Sessions judge Kamarudin Kamsun fixed bail at RM40,000 for both charges.
He set March 27 to re-mention the case.
Noor Ehsanuddin, who was a one-term MP from Barisan Nasional, greeted reporters after he arrived at the court complex at 8.50am yesterday.
His wife and family members were also present at the court.
He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code.
The charge carries a maximum jail term of two years or fine or both upon conviction.
