KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has questioned how Tronoh assemblyman Paul Yong Choo Kiong was able to obtain a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) without first holding a basic degree.

Dr Wee said many would be interested to hear Yong's "secret" to be able to do so.

Yong who listed an MBA from Akamai University, United States, in his biodata, also mentioned his early education in Perak – SJKC Pei Min Ayer Tawar, SM Ambrose Ayer Tawar and Sekolah Tinggi Nan Hua Ayer Tawar.

"So did he (Yong) forget to mention his first degree? " asked Dr Wee in his Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 9).

Yong, who is from DAP, declined to comment on his controversial MBA, and questioned: "what is the relationship between this and politics?" adding that his efforts to "enhance his worth" was being blown out of proportion.

Dr Wee, asked if an MBA from a questionable source truly represented an "enhancement".

He also asked Yong to state if the MBA he obtained met the requirements under the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Yong, 48, who is Perak's Housing and Local Goverment Committee chairman are among several politicians from the Pakatan Harapan government who are under scrutiny over their academic qualifications.

These include Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Marzuki Yahya, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian and Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.
