SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has refuted allegations that Umno paid PAS RM90mil in exchange for support.

The Umno deputy president said that as far as he knew, Umno did not give the Islamist party any money.

“But if someone had given the money (to PAS), I don’t know about it,” he said at Karangkraf’s Bicara Minda forum on Thursday (Feb 7).

He added Umno is examining the party constitution for reformulation and one of the elements that will be included is a clause on the elimination of money politics.

“If we find any of our members still stubborn (in regards to the matter), he will face stern party action,’’ said Mohamad.

Also among audience members at the forum were former Selangor Mentri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo and Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

It was reported that authorities would be calling four individuals, including PAS members, as they begin their probe into claims that the party had received RM90mil of the 1Malaysian Development Berhad (1MDB) funds.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki said the four had already been contacted by his officers for their statements to be recorded.
