KOTA KINABALU: "Enemies" within enforcement agencies or informers are being hunted, says Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman (pic).
Mohd Azis said he was aware of informers within the ministry as well as agencies under its jurisdiction, hampering the success of certain operations.
“I am aware of these informers who would leak out information of operations such as anti-drug crackdowns before we strike,” he said during a programme organised by the National Anti-Drug Agency here Sunday (Feb 3).
Mohd Azis said the enforcement officers and officials will be hunted down "one by one", until none remained in the ministry.
He said enforcers have trouble getting the main players in certain crime rings, and only nabbed the "little players" due to this fact.
“These are some of the challenges we face but we are doing our best to overcome the obstacles,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Azis said the programme was needed to create awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and was in line with the government’s bid to eradicate drug-related activities.
“Drug-related issues not only contribute to social ills but are also a threat to national security,” he said, adding that there would be no compromise on this matter.
Mohd Azis said therefore, it is everyone’s duty and commitment to report to the authorities on any drug-related activities.
“Do not cover up for the criminals, this is for the sake of our children and our country,” he added.
