Three charged with ganging up on and beating a friend


PETALING JAYA: Three friends claimed trial at a Sessions Court here to a charge of causing grievous hurt to a friend of theirs.

Goh Chin Lai, 59, Wang Week Fok, 40, and Lim Kea Chuong, 42, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them before Sessions Court judge Azwarnida Affandi.

According to the charge sheet, the three caused grievous hurt to Tam Wei Tong, 42, after they beat him on the head, face, hands and legs with metal rods and chairs as weapons. 

They allegedly committed the offence at Poppo Kanteen, Jalan Puteri 1/4, Bandar Puteri Puchong near here at 9.45pm on Nov 20, last year. 

The three were charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

They face a maximum 20 years' of imprisonment and can be fined or whipped if convicted. 

DPP Noor Mawarni Abd Halim did not offer bail. Lawyer Y.S. Dharian, who represented the three, asked the court to grant a minimum bail.

Azwarnida then fixed it at RM12,000 in one surety for each of the three.

The court also ordered the three accused not to go anywhere near the victim.

The case has been fixed for mention on March 4.
