PUCHONG: The police together with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and Community Policing Malaysia took time to distribute oranges and pamphlets to motorists in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
Bukit Aman Inspector-General of Police (IGP) (Secretariat) Corporate Communications head Senior Asst Comm Datuk Asmawati Ahmad said the event was meant to show their concern for motorists during the celebrations.
“We will continue these engagements with the public. We understand that there will be a large number of cars on the road as people make their way back to their hometowns.
“We just want to remind them to drive safely and responsibly,” she said at the Puchong Selatan toll plaza here yesterday.
She said they distributed more than 300 goodie bags.
“The bags contain water, oranges and pamphlets on road safety and crime prevention.
“It’s just our way of reminding the public to stay safe on the road and at home,” she added.
JPJ public relations officer Muhammad Fahmi Mohamad Daud said his department wishes everyone happy holidays and Happy Chinese New Year to those celebrating the festival.
