Married couple nabbed for syabu possession

BEAUFORT (Bernama): The police have arrested a man and his wife here after finding 12.84g of syabu in their car.

Beaufort District Police chief DSP Azmir Abdul Razak said the 54-year-old man and his 47-year-old wife, who were from a nearby village, were held at 11.50am on Tuesday (Jan 29) at Beaufort Square.

A squad from the Beaufort Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department led by Insp Azimimi Abdullah stopped their car at the square and, upon inspection, found a translucent plastic packet containing the drug in the vehicle, he said in a statement Wednesday (Jan 30).

The man was subjected to a urine test later and tested positive for drugs, he added.

DSP Azmir said an investigation revealed that the couple had obtained the drug from a trafficker in Beaufort town. – Bernama
