KOTA KINABALU: While most flood-affected areas in Sabah have returned to normal, two interior zones, Paitan and Beluran, are still inundated.
Sabah Education Department director Mistirine Radin said three schools from Beluran – SK Sualok, SK Binsulung and SK Sungai-Sungai – affecting 432 pupils and 27 teachers, remain closed on Tuesday (Jan 29) due to the situation.
Other schools have already reopened and classes are allowed to resume as usual, she said.
The Sabah Civil Defence Department said for Paitan, the three temporary shelters that were opened on Sunday (Jan 27) would continue to operate.
The department was informed that there were still 134 people from 33 families staying in these shelters.
However, hopes are high for things to return to normal soon, as rain has ceased and there are already rays of sunlight in parts of the flood-affected districts.
