KUANTAN: The time is only 5am, but the white house at an intersection in Kampung Seberang, Sungai Lembing here, is a hive of activity.

Choo Yen Chyn, 47, is busy grating coconuts at one corner in the kitchen, while her mother, Fong Thin Ngen, 82, is getting ready the five charcoal stoves lined on a specially-built rack at the porch.
