KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested 20 people in Taman Miharja, Cheras for gambling and various drug offences.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said they were alerted about the incident at around 4.30pm on Saturday (Jan 26).
"Personnel from the Cheras Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) raided a shoplot following a tip-off.
"We arrested 11 men and nine women in the raid while they were playing mahjong," he said when contacted on Monday (Jan 28).
Police also seized a packet containing powder believed to be 69.93g of syabu, 14 other packets containing 113.26g of the same drugs, two packets containing about 71g of what is believed to be heroin as well as 20 ecstasy pills and 10 erimin five tablets following further checks.
"The seizure is estimated to be worth at least RM31,100. We also seized RM4,000 in cash and an assortment of chips and mahjong tiles," he said, adding that those arrested were aged between 50 and 79.
