GEORGE TOWN: The police have arrested a 15-year-old student over an attack of a secondary school student with steel tables and chairs.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said the victim alerted the teacher after the daily assembly at the school in Jalan Masjid Negeri, adding that he sustained injuries to his back.

“We are tracking down three more students as witnesses to assist in investigations and we will also get the suspect’s disciplinary report and the victim’s medical report,” he said on Monday (Jan 28).

The 15-year-old – who is currently being treated at the Penang Hospital – claimed that he confronted his attacker after the latter insulted his mother, adding that he warned his attacker against repeating the insult.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
