KUANTAN: The people of Pahang are jubilant that their Ruler will now take office as the King, so soon after ascending as the Sultan of Pahang.
On behalf of the state government and the people, Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail congratulated Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on his election as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“We are thankful and proud of this election, which has been completed smoothly at the special meeting of the Conference of Rulers.
“I am fully confident that His Majesty will be able to assume this responsibility with great success and bring glory to our beloved Malaysia,” he said yesterday.
Norzuli Ramli, 50, said it was good news for the people of Pahang to have a Sultan who would also be King.
“His leadership and character is very much respected. I believe he can lead the country to achieve further prosperity,” he said.
Norzaine Aniza Mohd Zaib, 34, said the development was historic because Sultan Abdullah had just become the Sultan of Pahang.
“It is a double joy for us. The people of Pahang are especially grateful.
“He is a far-sighted leader. We wish him the best in helping our country flourish,” said the housewife from Sungai Soi here.
Sultan Abdullah, 59, had always been known for his benevolent traits and his deep concern for the people’s welfare.
