MIRI: The number of flood victims evacuated from villages in Sematan and Lundu districts in southern Sarawak has risen to 122.

These 122 men, women and children from different villages are being given shelter at four community halls, said the State Disaster Relief Committee.

In its latest updates at 8am on Monday (Jan 21), the committee secretariat said that at 4am just now, more people were evacuated after their homes were inundated by flash floods.

Heavy rain since last night saw the evacuation being carried out, it said.

Those affected are from around Sungai Lumut, Sungai Batu, Kpg Poan and SK Sebat.

The evacuation centres are at the community halls in these places.

Sematan and Lundu districts are located about 100km from Kuching.
