KOTA KINABALU: Twenty-one people around the city, including 17 suspected drug abusers, have been nabbed for various offences during an ongoing crackdown against crime.

Four women were also among those picked up for not having any identification documents during the operation that started at 8.30am Saturday (Jan 19) and ended at about 5pm in Kampung Lobou Menggatal near here.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said all suspects aged between three and 45 were nabbed while drugs, believed to be syabu, weighing about 10.31g valued at about RM1,550 were seized from two men during the operation.

“This is part of our ongoing efforts to fight crime and get rid of illegal immigrants in the city,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 20).

ACP Habibi said the 21 suspects were among 33 people hauled up for inspection during the operation.

“This raid went smoothly as there were no untoward incidents throughout the time we were at the scene,” he said.

He said such operations would be conducted on a regular basis.

ACP Habibi thanked the public for their cooperation and urged them to continue being the eyes and ears for the police in order to bring peace and safety to people in Kota Kinabalu.
