KUCHING: Sarawak will gradually reduce the export of logs as part of efforts to shift the timber industry towards high value-added products.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said currently, 20% of the state's timber production of about five million cubic metres a year was allowed to be exported in the form of logs.
