KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) is working closely with MASwings to help boost travel between rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak due to extremely low passenger volume in these areas.

Mavcom chief operating officer Azmir Zain said from their analysis for passengers on rural air services (RAS) routes in Sabah between January and October 2018, about 58% of the passengers were travelling from urban to urban areas whereas 42% were from urban to rural areas.
