Iskandar Malaysia records RM32.23bil in investments in 2018

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Iskandar Malaysia has recorded RM32.23bil in investments throughout 2018, says Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) CEO Datuk Ismail Ibrahim.

He added that with the new investments, Iskandar Malaysia recorded RM285.34bil in accumulated investments between 2016 and Dec 31, 2018.

“From the figure of committed investment, local investors contributed RM177bil, or 62%, while the remaining RM108bil is from foreign investors,” he added.

Ismail said this in his speech during the first anniversary of IskandarSpace here at Medini on Tuesday (Jan 15).

He pointed out that the six-service sector, which is tourism, education, finance, health, creative and logistics, recorded a 16% growth between 2017 and 2018.

“Just last year alone, tourism recorded a total investment of RM1.94bil, while education is about RM940mil,” he said.
