KUALA LUMPUR: Two friends claimed trial at a Sessions Court here for allegedly robbing a woman at a condominium car park two weeks ago.
Security guard Ainol Shafik Johar, 23, and store assistant Ahmad Farizal Ahmad Fuad, 29, were accused of gang robbing marketing employee Chou Lee Har, 40, and causing the victim to lose among others her identification card, credit card, ATM card, driving licence, RM1,000 in cash and a mobile phone.
The offence was allegedly committed in front of a lift at the car park of Kuchai Avenue Condominium, Kuchai Lama, at 5.10am on Jan 2.
The charge under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a maximum 20 years in prison and whipping, upon conviction.
DPP Kamarul Aris Kamalluddin did not offer bail.
Lawyer Keshreena Kaur Sidhu, who represented Ahmad Farizal, requested bail for her client on grounds that he has to support his family, including his wife and three small children.
Meanwhile, Ainol Shafik, who was unrepresented, told the court that he did not have a bailor because his family did not know he was arrested.
Sessions Court judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid granted bail at RM6,000 in one surety each.
The case is fixed for mention on Jan 30.
