PETALING JAYA: The daughters of late cake maker Nancy Chong will continue her legacy.
Her daughters, Angela, Kathy and Cindy, in a posting on the Nancy Cake Ipoh Facebook page, wrote: "Dear all, thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes. Our mother passed away at the ripe age of 90 and her funeral was on Thursday (Jan 10).
"We will keep her legacy of pure butter cakes going. Thank you for your support," it added.
The post included a picture of Nancy (whose real name is Wong Meng Chee) with her family, as well as the butter cakes topped with sugar icing.
At press time, the post received more than 450 Likes, with many commenting on how Nancy had impacted the lives of people, especially those living in Ipoh.
Joanne Kerk wrote, "God bless her soul. Aunty Nancy has contributed her design and effort to my simple but beautiful and delicious cup cakes for my wedding then, and I have her to thank for (sic).
"Appreciate the humble service too. My condolences to the family," she added.
Sharon Miranda Sivaraja said that Nancy inspired her to be a baker. "God bless your sweet soul," she said.
Another person, Tan Soo Kang, thanked Nancy for the cakes she baked.
"(The cakes have) brought happiness to so many. May you rest in peace. You'll be deeply missed," he said.
The Star reported about her passing yesterday (Jan 11), as many posted about how friendly Nancy was, but how she and her cake were part of a slice of life in Perak.
