Retailer jailed for illegal cigs

PETALING JAYA: An Indonesian businessman was jailed eight months for possessing 3,480 sticks of illegal cigarettes – the first offender in the state to be convicted under new amendment to the Customs Act 1967.

Andika Razali, 29, pleaded guilty in a magistrate’s court here to a charge of possessing prohibited items including 192 packs of illegal cigarettes of different brands at Jalan TK 4/1 in Puchong on Jan 2. The estimated value of the illegal cigarettes was RM323.
