ALOR SETAR (Bernama): A civil servant was among 24 individuals detained by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) on suspicion of drug abuse in a raid on a drug den in Kampung Kuala Sala yesterday (Jan 8).

The 30-year-old man, who admitted to have taken syabu for the past five years, was arrested with his nametag on his shirt, and was believed to have left office during lunch break to go to the drug den and get his fix.

Yan AADK chief Mohamad Ramli said the raid, which began at 8am and ended at 3pm, was joined by People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Bukit Kayu Hitam Anti-drugs Border Unit.

“All detainees, aged between 21 and 60, were taken to Yan AADK Office for further action. Twenty-two of them were tested positive for opiate-type drugs, while the other two were positive for syabu,” he said, adding that they would be investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983. - Bernama
