Man crossing highway in Iskandar Putri dies after being hit by car


JOHOR BARU: A man died after a being hit by a car while crossing the Iskandar Sultan Highway at KM11.4 heading towards Iskandar Puteri here.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Taib Ahmad said the incident took place at around 1.40am on the wee hours of Saturday (Jan 5) morning.

“Police did not find any identification documents belonging to the victim at the scene but we believed he is a local man.

“Initial investigations revealed that a car had hit the victim who was crossing the highway,” he said when contacted here on Saturday.

ACP Mohd Taib added that the victim died at the scene due to severe injuries and his body had been sent to Kulai Hospital for a post-mortem.

He also said the 22-year-old driver of the car only sustained minor injuries on his shoulder and had been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for medical attention.

ACP Mohd Taib added that the police was in the midst of identifying the victim’s identity and tracking down his next of kin. 

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
