JOHOR BARU: The public has been urged to be the eyes and ears of the state government and report any abuse of power by state assemblymen and aides to Members of Parliament to the authorities.

Johor Local Government, Science and Technology Committee chairman Tan Hong Pin (pic) said that unlawful behaviour of using allocation given for an area for personal gains is condemned by the state and federal government.

“As a member of the state assembly, I condemn the practice and the continuation of such a lack of integrity. This will scar the spirit of New Malaysia.

“Hence, I urge the public to play an active role in ensuring Malaysia maintains its integrity and authority by driving towards a positive change,” he said in a statement released here Friday (Jan 4).

The Johor DAP secretary added that the public should report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) or the Mentri Besar’s office if they come across any misuse of allocation.

“Active participation from the public can be translated through their action of reporting any suspicious activities to MACC or the Mentri Besar’s office.

“Pakatan Harapan state governments will not compromise on such matters and are committed to taking action through the appropriate legal channels,” he added.
