KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): A syariah-compliant three-star hotel has commenced operations in the state early this month, said Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
He said the state government-owned Paya Bunga (PB) Hotel, which cost RM90mil, had its own attractions including calls to prayer.
Among others, it was made mandatory by the hotel for its personnel to wear suitable clothes to cover their aurat (parts of the body not supposed to be exposed in public) and it only offered ‘halal' food and drinks.
‘'For starters, only 90 of the 208 rooms are opened at the PB Hotel for bookings while the rest will be opened in stages and be fully operational by the end of next March.
‘'But, other facilities such as swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurants and ballroom have been completed and can be used. We are also working with Agoda and Trivago over room bookings,'' he told reporters after launching the PB Hotel here on Sunday (Dec 30). -Bernama
