IPOH: The Perak state government has proposed to work with consumer groups to hold promotional carnivals selling school necessities next year.
Perak Consumer Affairs Committee chairman A. Sivanesan (pic) said these carnivals could be held at all 15 districts in the state and it would lessen the complaints on any price hike from the public.
"We welcome interested sellers, big or small, to take part.
"There will be competition for prices, thus consumers will not be cheated," he told reporters after joining the state Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement team to conduct a price check operation on school essentials at the Mydin hypermarket in Meru Raya here on Thursday (Dec 27).
"I urge the interested consumer affairs associations to meet me if they want to hold this.
"It will also be a great business opportunity for the traders," he added.
