IPOH: A month may be needed to get the final post-mortem report to determine the cause of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s death, says Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.
He said normally, the pathologist report would list out the cause of death, but as to the in-depth details, further investigation must be carried out.
“Usually, there is a need to do a blood test, and the test could take about a month to get information on the type of injury.
“The pathologists will usually know what the internal injuries were sustained by the victim, and it depends if further blood test is necessary or otherwise to check on other injuries.
“If the pathologists feel the information gathered is sufficient to determine the cause of death, then they may not have to do any other blood tests,” he added.
Muhammad Adib, 24, was a victim of the Sri Maha Mariamman temple riot. He died at the National Heart Institute on Dec 17.
On Dec 21, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said police would release the full forensic investigation report in a few days.
He said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun had briefed him on the progress involving the report.
