KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is calling on all the people in the state to come together and celebrate peace, love and joy in this Yuletide season.
Mohd Shafie said Christmas was a time when the message of joy and peace would be widely heard and spread across world.
“The same holds true here in Sabah, where all of us, irrespective of race or creed, share a common wish to live in peace and harmony,” he said on Monday (Dec 24).
Everyone should see celebrations such as this as an opportune moment to pause and reflect on the many divine blessings received, he added.
“This year has indeed been an extraordinary one for our state and nation,” Mohd Shafie said.
“Divine power has enabled the people to reflect deeply, inspiring them to move with courage and determination towards change – change for a better way of life,” he said in reference to the change of government following GE14.
The Chief Minister said all ministries and agencies in his government were now ready to start delivering tangible fruits and benefits in line with the high expectations and demands of the people.
“We, therefore, happily join members of Christian churches of all traditions in Sabah in their celebration of Christmas” he said.
“We gladly share their joy and their wish to spread the message of peace. The spread of peace and harmony in our state and country should be the duty and mission of every Malaysian,” he added.
Mohd Shafie also called on the people to bravely reject any kind of action that was detrimental to Malaysia's peaceful and harmonious way of life.
