Disabled elderly woman rescued after house catches fire


KLANG (Bernama): A 70-year-old disabled woman survived a fire at a single-storey terrace house in Kampung Pendamar Phase II, Port Klang near here, early Saturday (Dec 22).

Port Kelang Fire and Rescue Department Staton chief, Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent Juyana @ Azlan Musa said the fire broke out at around 6.30am.

He said that upon receiving a call at about 6.38am, a team of 15 firefighters and officers rushed to the scene.

The victim, who was in the bedroom at the back of the house, was rescued by the firefighters.

"The elderly woman, who is disabled, was having breathing difficulties and was handed over to Emergency Services Assistance Unit (EMRS," he said.

Juyana said the findings showed that several family members of the victim who were at the front of the house had managed to escape, adding that the terrace house was 80% gutted in the incident. – Bernama
