PETALING JAYA: Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin's discontent with his fellow party members continues to fester with a public spat with Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.
In response to a Malay daily's report that Khairy was urging all parties to show respect for fallen firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, Faisal Ismail, who is former youth exco, tweeted that Khairy was "not relevant as an opposition member."
In a tit-for-tat move, Khairy responded by tweeting: "You are irrelevant as a human being".
Awak tak relevan sbg manusia.— Khairy Jamaluddin (@Khairykj) December 18, 2018
Khairy, along with other Umno leaders including Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, have been leading the call for Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down.
Dr Ahmad Zahid announced his decision late Tuesday night (Dec 18) weeks after mounting calls for his resignation amid an exodus of Umno elected representatives, leaders and party members.
In response, Khairy thanked Dr Ahmad Zahid for listening to the party members.
"Did the right thing. Thank you, Zahid Hamidi," Khairy wrote on Twitter.
