ALOR SETAR: Firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s family will receive more than RM250,000 in insurance and ex-gratia payouts by the Fire and Rescue Department and insurance policies.
Housing and Local Government Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek said 24-year-old Adib’s pay grade had also been posthumously moved up from KB 19 to KB 22.
“This is to lighten the family’s burden. Adib lost his life in the line of duty in his four years of service.
“He will be deeply missed and we salute him for his services to the Subang Jaya fire brigade,” he said outside the Masjid As-Saadah in Kg Tebengau here where Muhammad Adib was buried yesterday.
Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department deputy director-general Datuk Amer Yusof said Muhammad Adib’s family would receive a total of RM255,756 in total payouts from the department and insurance policies.
“The first entitlement is an ex-gratia payout under the Kumpulan Wang Kebajikan Bomba, which is RM81,756. The quantum was calculated based on 36 times of Adib’s salary, which was RM2,271.
“Another RM174,000 will be paid out as part of the firemen’s insurance scheme, cooperative, welfare association and the Selangor state khairat kematian (funeral expenses fund),” said Amer.
