KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) says it has never appointed any agents or outside contractors to collect payments for electricity connection works.

Its general manager for corporate communications Chendramata Sinteh said that all payments for power connections have to be made at the counters.

She said this in response to several complaints lodged, especially in Semporna, claiming that customers have paid certain individuals claiming to be SESB staff for power connection works, but have yet to get their services.

“We received this information during an operation conducted at the district to connect electricity.

“Some villagers told us that they paid some people claiming to be from SESB to connect their electricity, but have yet to see the job done till today,” Chendramata said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 18).

She urged victims to lodge police reports, so that investigations can be carried out.

“We want to see these irresponsible individuals arrested,” she added.

Any queries on electricity supply matters can be made at SESB counters statewide.
