PETALING JAYA: Parts of Semenyih experienced flash floods on Sunday (Dec 16) evening following a downpour.

Several roads were inundated with videos and pictures of the incident going viral on social media.

One of the areas affected included the student hostel of Nottingham University Malaysia.

The University's Provost and CEO Professor Graham Kendall confirmed the matter.

“Due to a downpour yesterday evening, there was a flood in one of our student accommodation blocks.

"We have worked continuously to manage/monitor the situation and we continue to do so, with a priority being to ensure the safety all concerned,” he said in a brief statement to The Star.

The Semenyih Fire and Rescue Department, on its Facebook page, also reported that it had removed a fallen tree which has blocked the road in Taman Tasik Kesuma Beranang after the deluge.

There were no reports of injuries during the flash floods.
