SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun claims the state budget he will be tabling on Monday (Dec 17) will be the best ever in the state's history.
The state Pakatan Harapan chief said although the budget will focus on the B40 group, there will be something for "almost" everyone.
"There will be something for the needy, women, the special needs community, civil servants, youths, schools, as well as the Malay customs or Adat institution.
"We will be giving the people the best, and certainly better than previously," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting.
The B40 group refers to Malaysian households earning RM3,900 a month or less.
This will be the first time in the history of Negri Sembilan, where the state budget will be tabled by a Mentri Besar who was not from Barisan Nasional.
Asked if among the goodies would include free treated water for consumers, Aminuddin said his administration was not ready for this.
"We will not have free water in the budget, but there will be new policies that will benefit many people," he said.
He said it was not fair for anyone to compare Negri Sembilan to bigger and richer states like Selangor, which gave many benefits to its people.
On a separate matter, Aminuddin said only the state ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir can decide how many titles and awards would be given out, in conjunction
with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar's 71st birthday celebration on Jan 14.
"It is entirely up to Tuanku how many how many titles, awards and honours he wants to give out.
"On our side, we will merely propose names after going through the vetting process with the relevant agencies such as the MACC, police, Insolvency Department and Islamic Affairs Council," he added.
