Johor still ideal place for investors, tensions with Singapore will be resolved, says state exco

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The escalating tensions between Malaysia and Singapore will not impact present and future investments into Johor, says state exco member Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (pic).

The state International Trade, Investment and Utilities committee chairman played down the tensions between both countries over sea boundaries and airspace, and said Johor would remain an ideal place for investors, especially from the island republic.

“Johor is an ideal location to become a regional hub for investors that want to expand their business as we are the entry point for the Asean market.

“I have the utmost confident that both governments will find a solution over the dispute,” he said, when met after representing Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian at the opening of the DHL Global Center of Excellence (GCOE) here on Tuesday (Dec 11).

The dispute started with the declaration by Malaysia, published in the Federal Gazette, of an alteration to Johor Baru's port limits on Oct 25.

Singapore protested the move, claiming it was done unilaterally.
