Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng says Malaysia will find it challenging to meet its 3% fiscal deficit target for next year due to uncertainties around the US-China trade war.

PETALING JAYA: The approval given to organisers of the anti-Icerd (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) rally in Kuala Lumpur shows that government agencies are political-free, says Lim Guan Eng (pic).

The Finance Minister said the government was serious in ensuring that its departments and agencies were not politicised.

"Rally such as the one on Saturday (Dec 8) which went peacefully should not be stopped.

"We don't want agencies to be politicised," he said when launching the Selangor DAP convention on Sunday (Dec 9).

Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, said peaceful rallies also showed that society was becoming matured and understood the real meaning of democracy.

The one-day convention is set to see a new Selangor DAP chairman after incumbent Tony Pua announced that he was not defending the post.
