Govt seeks calm amid storm with Singapore over maritime issues

PETALING JAYA: The government has proposed for both Malaysia and Singapore to cease and desist from sending assets into the disputed area in the Johor Straits, following accusations of intrusion into Singapore waters.

In light of the disagreements between the two countries on the Declaration of Alteration of Port Limits for the Johor Baru Port, Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said both nations should stop doing so from midnight pending discussions on outstanding maritime boundary issues.
