PETALING JAYA: The Kuala Lumpur Sports City (KLSC) will not be temporarily closed, says the Youth and Sports Ministry.
“The ministry and the National Audit Department chief office have agreed that KLSC is in a good condition and safe to be used to organise any events and activities,” the ministry said in a statement yesterday.
KLSC Bukit Jalil includes the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex.
The ministry said this following safety issues at KLSC that were revealed in the Auditor-General’s Report 2017 Series 2.
“This is proven by the successful organisation of events at KLSC venues, including the Kuala Lumpur Games 2017 and the Kuala Lumpur Major 2018.
“Currently, the Bukit Jalil National Stadium has also been selected as the venue for the Malaysian team’s match for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018,” it said.
The ministry assured that the public’s safety would be its utmost priority, adding it would not compromise on any parties who failed to comply with safety procedures.
“This is to ensure the public will be able to use the facilities in a safe environment as well as to conduct activities,” it said.
